American Honey Pork Hock
Pork hock marinated in our delicious linden honey and spice mix.
Preparation time: 20 minutes
Total cook time: 200 minutes
Ingredients for 6 servings:
Pork hock: 3 lbs
Salt, pepper, garlic to taste
Thyme: 2 sprigs
Bay leaves: 3-4
Juice of one orange
Medium red onion
Dijon mustard: 1/2 cup
Olive oil: 1 cup
Linden honey: 4 tbsp
Instructions:
Place the pork hock in a large pot or slow cooker and cover it with enough water to submerge it completely. Season the water with salt, pepper, bay leaves, and plenty of garlic. Cook slowly until the internal temperature has reached 155 F (about 2-3 hours).
Prepare the marinade by mixing the Dijon mustard, linden honey, garlic powder to taste, orange juice, finely chopped red onion, and olive oil.
Sprinkle some finely chopped fresh thyme on your cooked hock, then coat it with the prepared honey marinade.
Bake in a preheated oven at 375 °F until browned (about 15-20 minutes). Serve hot!
Chef's tip:
While baking, routinely baste the pork with the fat that accumulates at the bottom of the pan. This will prevent the hock from drying out and help to distribute all the flavors.
