Rebel bearry corn dogs
Delicious Corn dogs made better by way of our Strawberry infused honey!
Preparation time: 35 minutes
Total cook time: 40 minutes
Ingredients for 6 servings:
Hot dogs of your choice: 6
Cornmeal: 1 cup
Flour: 3/4 cup
Eggs: 2
Milk: 1/3 cup
Baking powder: 1 tsp
Salt and pepper to taste
Oil: 4 to 6 cups (for frying)
Strawberry flavored honey: 2 tbsp
Wooden dowels/ skewers
Instructions:
Into a medium bowl, sieve the cornmeal and regular flour then add the baking powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
Once the dry ingredients are lump-free, add the eggs, strawberry honey, and milk. Mix the batter together until smooth - then refrigerate for at least one hour.
Dust the sausages with some additional flour (the flour will help the batter stick to and coat the hot dogs). Next, skewer your flour-dusted hot dogs with wooden dowels and dip them into the prepared batter.
Heat the oil to 375 °F, then carefully place the sausages in the oil and fry until golden brown.
Place your corn downs on to a paper-lined container or a rack to drain the excess oil. Removing excess oil will keep the corn dogs crips and prevent sogginess.
Chef's tip:
Make sure the oil is hot (at 375 °F) before starting to fry. Also be sure to eat your corn dogs fresh off the fryer for peak crispiness and enjoyment.
